Miflex Xtreme diving hoses
Chances are, you'd never have thought diving hoses could possibly be "cool" or "interesting", right? That's true as long as you stick to the heavy rubber hoses you're used to. Miflex hoses change all that.
"What's wrong with the normal hoses, don't they work?"
Well yes, but....
1) They're not very flexible, leading a lot of divers, especially twin-set divers to chose their regulator first stages according to the hose routing options. Surely that's not how it should be.
2) They tend to give up rather quickly if they're used a lot in very sunny conditions, UV rays and all that.
3) They are heavy. Ok, so are your tanks, but we're talking about when you are traveling the world with your favourite regulators and a long-hose, it does add up. (and you would not bring your tanks on a plane anyway...)
As you might have guessed by now, Miflex Xstreme diving hoses combat all the above issues very effectively.
Wait, there's even more to them!
- The Miflex hoses are built using an "external nylon dafety braiding designed to resist snags and abrasions". I.e. these are expected to last significantly longer than your standard hoses.
-
They are super-lightweight - holding a Miflex long-hose (210cm) will surprise you!
- They are super-flexible - as they state - you can tie a knot into them and they still deliver air like no knot was there. This gives you superior hose routing options! See our pictures....
- They come in cool colours! And we don't mean PINK, dear American Florida & Bahamas divers! (Please don't consider this Miflex!) :-)
- We're talking a nice blue, a very nice "mellow yellow" (which we'd say is "Poseidon yellow") which is fantastic to use on your long hose - you gain visibility under water, especially in greenish waters this really shines! Or opt for glow-in-the-dark yellow!
Oh, and they do black, too. I'd even say it's an extra nice kind of black too, rejoice, dear DIR-community! :-)
They do standard regulator hoses, as well as low-pressure inflator/BCD hoses (standard 3/8" M) with quick release coupler fittings. They come in every length imaginable - from 60cm to 100cm for the inflator hoses, from 20cm to 210cm for the regulator hoses, and now even as high pressure SPG hoses from 15cm for stage bottles to 150cm. Or, you can get pretty much any special length for a small surcharge.
We've been using them with our Poseidon XStream Deep 90 Mk3 for a while now and are very impressed! Totally recommended!
UPDATE: We have since been diving lots of cold water with these hoses - including ice diving in Austria and most recently at Grüner See - a lake existing only because of melting snow and ice. They performed flawlessly in these environments, they *never* stiffen up!
