FAQ
Q: Do you review anything dive-related?
No. We want to focus on high quality dive gear only. Therefore, we have a special interest in products produced for professional and commercial divers, technical divers, military divers and rescue personel. In other words, if brand xyz brings out a new super soft pink snorkel, we couldn't care less.
Q: Is there anything you are looking forward to reviewing/testing
On the "medical/rescue" chain side this includes first aid kits, AEDs, Oxygen Analyzers and Oxygen Supplies.
For drysuits, we have a huge interest in testing more DUI models (TLS350, FX/LX, CF200) and Waterproof suits (D1, Aquila). We both dive the Waterproof Draco at the moment and love it.
For regulators, we might be interested in testing the newest offerings from Apeks and Halcyon.
In regards to dive computers, we'd be happy to test the newest Uwatec LUNA and SOL, the VRX, the Icon HD and the Suunto HelO2 and will soon have a UEMIS Zurich SDA review on our site, a new OLED dive computer which we are quite excited about.
Q: I am a manufacturer, can I send you stuff to review?
If you believe it is really good quality, then yes. If you send something that turns out to be rubbish, we will say so here. So, yes, we do accept gear for review but send it back and take no special sponsorship on of any kind. We do however offer to take amazing images of your gear in action as a business proposition (incl. but not limited to: shots in various Alp lakes or Scandinavia, during ice diving, in the Med., ...) regardless of a public review; i.e. you can commission us to take great quality images of your gear in locations it might not be feasible for you to go by yourself.
Q: What kind of training have you guys completed?
We've completed our basic training according (OWD/AOWD/RescueDiver) to PADI and CMAS standards. We've further done the CMAS Apnoe Course (passed 2* theory, static breath holding and will complete some last drills this summer), the CMAS Nitrox course as well as an Barakuda Ice Diving course. We are further training GUE skills and envisage taking the GUE Fundamentals class later this year or early next year, then go on with CMAS Cavern and Cave 1 training, and finally GUE Cave1. We are not instructors and any advice given is solely the viewpoint of the author unless otherwise stated and should not be used instead of professional training by a licensed dive instructor in your chosen specialty. We do not advocate a particular dive organization and believe it comes down to the individual and the dive team how well and safe they dive. Dive responsibly and keep training and educate yourself continuosly. It will make your diving experience safer, both for yourself, for your dive buddies and the marine environment. Buoyancy and trim are too often neglected after initial training, keep getting better - it is also more fun to "dive better" and be in control!
