Review: Cressi Minima Apnea mask

Wearing the Cressi Minima risks comments like "Are you going to a Venetian Mask Festival?" "Batman & Robin going diving?"  but that aside, this is a smart little mask for your Apnea adventures due to its tiny internal volume.

Similar masks exist, and we will review most of them in detail as the site lives on. One of those competitor's masks is the Technisib Falco, also a very compact mask with an excellent field of view for its small size. The Cressi Minima however offers an even smaller mask volume.

We use it for our new Apnea course and training, but also as a backup mask when we go dry-suit diving, as it can comfortably live in the side pocket of the suit.

The field of view is more for straight forward concentration (as when diving down a line) than reef-watching TV-Widescreen style though.

Action shots to follow shortly!

Technical features (from Cressi's site):

  • Type: two-lens mask

  • Internal volume: very low
  • Dimensions of frame: 168 x 45 mm
  • Weight: 118 g

*Note: For spearfishing a reflective mask can be good, but for Apnea/Freediving, it is important that you can establish eyecontact between the diver and the safety diver.
